The Moment.
Paragraph 1: Thesis:
The two symbols I’m choosing for the Pit and the Pendulum are the ``Rats’’ and the ``pit’’.
Paragraph 2 :
In the Pit and the Pendulum the rats create a scary situation by swarming all over the
prisoner, and the pit symbolizes hell. The rats start to eat the prisoner when he is trying to escape. This
scene creates scary sitiuations, and continues to do so through out the story. The prisoner is trapped in the
dungeon,if he doesn’t escape, then he will die. The pendulum can slice the prisoner at any moment,so he
must escape. The prisoner didn’t remembered how he arrived at the dungeon at all,I think he should try to
remember how he got in. The ``circular pit’’ was filled with doom,if I were him I would have atleast tried to
escape. If the prisoner doesn’t escape,he will soon die by the swinging pendulum.
Paragraph 3:
The narrator falls into a circular pit, and arrives in some sort of iron-burning dungeon. He is
confused, because he was in Toledo. Every time he sleeps and wakes up,he is in somewhere different, must
be a nightmare. The prisoner is now tied to some sort of wooden bed by ropes. The rats are attracted to the
prisoner but they actually help him try to escape by chewing the ropes. Hopefully the prisoner escapes with
the help of the rats in time, before the pendulum slices him in half. When the prisoner escapes,or if he escapes how will he leave the dungeon.Hopefully the rats will chew all the ropes in time to set the prisoner
free.
Paragraph 4:
The rats kept crawling out of the pit, this was when he didn’t realize they would help
him, instead he thought he was their prey.As the prisoner is stuck on the wooden bed, invaded by rats,he witnesses a
huge figure holding some sort of scythe-like pendulum. Is this figure alive or some sort of statue,it was clear to the
prisoner that it was not alive so he feared it less but was still scared. The rats had demonic-red eyes and were haunting the
prisoner until they chewed the ropes tied to him.
